Vigilant citizen spurs officials into busting illegal mining racket in Lucknow

LUCKNOW || In a glaring example of what can happen when people and the government go hand in hand, an illegal mining racket was busted in the state capital on Tuesday. Based on the information of a responsible citizen about illegal mining a joint team of district officials and SO Gosainganj carried out a surprise raid on the venue.

loThe team caught 11 dumpers and 1 JCB red-handed, engaged in illegal mining from Ardaunamau and Mastemau alongwith one driver. As a result all dumpers and JCB were seized. FIR has been registered under section 379 IPC, 2/3 Lok Sampatti kshati nivaran adhiniyam and mining act against the above.

Apart from this a penal royalty of Rs.20,25,000/ is also being imposed and notice is being issued to one Arvind Yadav whose name has come into light on the statement of the arrested driver. The police is further investigating about the involvement of others in this act. The land in which illegal mining was going on is a Banjar land bearing gata no 381 measuring 1.89 hectares, an official said.

District magistrate Raj Shekhar lauded the ‘vigilant informer’ and the team which conducted the raid. “The District Administration appreciates the effort of ‘Responsible Public informant’, ADM Finance, SDM Mohanlal Ganj, Tehasildar Mohanlal Ganj and SHO Gosaiganj for their effective and proactive work in this case” Shekhar told IBM. This Surprise raid was conducted at 12:30 am mid night .
