LUCKNOW || The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Wednesday achieved yet another milestone when it generated 15 crore Aadhaar numbers in Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad is at the top with 42.42 lakh Aadhaar generation followed by Lucknow with 39.05 lakh Aadhaar generation and Kanpur Nagar with 36.37 lakh Aadhaar generation.
Coverage of Aadhaar generation for adult population has reached 96.2% of the total population in that age group. Most of the population which is yet to be enrolled is below 18 years of age, UIDAI has strategized to cover the remaining population bifurcating it in two groups with enrolment plans to cover children aged below 5 years through Aanganwadies and children aged 5-18 years in schools and colleges.
Necessary instructions to the field functionaries have already been issued by the State Government for expeditious enrolment of remaining population in these age groups. More than 3,255 tablets have been deployed throughout the state to enrol children below 5 years of age.
At present there are more than 7,434 enrolment kits operated by about 75 Enrolment Agencies and these include more than 4,500 Permanent Enrolment Centers (PECs) which are being operated in various parts of the state to facilitate residents not only to enrol for Aadhaar but also to resolve other issues like printing of e-Aadhaar and updation of Aadhaar etc. Steps have been also taken by UIDAI to facilitate the enrolment of senior citizens and disabled persons so that they do not face any problem during Aadhaar enrolment.
Aadhaar is required for residents to avail of various government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Pension schemes, Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG Subsidy (DBTL), Universal Account Number (UAN) of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and Public Distribution System (PDS).
UIDAI has requested residents to register their mobile number and E- mail id at the time of Aadhaar enrolment so that they can download their E- Aadhaar from https://resident.uidai.net.in/home with the help of OTP received on their mobile number or mail id. Giving mobile numbers will also facilitate residents to get updates on benefits delivered to them.
Residents can approach the nearest enrolment center for Aadhaar enrolment, details of which are available at https://resident.uidai.net.in. The Aadhaar enrolment process is completely free of cost and demand of money in any manner for Aadhaar enrolment is illegal and is strictly dealt with.
