Rebel Congress MLA’s cannot participate in trust vote : SC

NEW DELHI || Nine Congress dissidents, who rebelled against ousted Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, will not participate in the trust vote that the party will seek in the Uttarakhand assembly on May 10, the Supreme Court (SC) said on Monday.

rawatThe decision hands Harish Rawat in an advantageous position and he will now have to prove the support of only 31 legislators. The nine Congress rebel lawmakers were disqualified by the Uttarakhand speaker and moved the Supreme Court after the state High Court refused to reverse the Speaker’s decision today. The Supreme Court will hear their plea again on May 12.
