Police sub-inspector shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW || A police sub-inspector was killed in Badayun in a gun battle with armed criminals, police said on Thursday. The encounter took place late Wednesday night in which sub-inspector Sarvesh Yadav was shot dead and two other policemen were injured in the exchange of fire.

shotAn official informed hat the incident took place on the Bareilly highway under the Binawar police station when during a checking, three bike-borne persons were intercepted on a tip-off that they were on way to a loot.

As the police team tried to stop and check them, they opened fire on the police, injuring two and killing the sub-inspector on the spot. One injured assailant was nabbed by the policemen while two managed to escape.

Condition of one of the police constables Pramod is stated to be critical. Police has begun combing operations in the nearby areas, an official further said.
