DEHRADUN || On the pious day of ‘Aksaya Tritiya’, the doors of Lord Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand were opened amid traditional fervour and celebrations on Monday. The doors opened at 7 am amid chanting of religious hymns.
Governor KK Paul was the chief guest and he arrived at the shrine by a helicopter. After he performed the puja as per traditions, the doors were opened for the common people and devotees. It was a pleasant weather and more than 2500 people prayed at the shrine on the maiden day.
The footfall to the shrine, which is one of the 12 ‘jyotirlinga’s of Lord Shiva, had fallen after the flash floods in 2013 which killed several thousands.
