MUMBAI || Uttar Pradesh added another feather to its hat on Monday when it was awarded the ‘Best Indian destination for Culture’ by prestigious international travel magazine ‘Lonely Planet’, at a glittering ceremony at Mumbai.
Principal Secretary (Tourism) Navneet Sehgal received the award on behalf of his department and the state government. The state was selected on basis of a convention survey as well as an online feedback survey, conducted by the magazine.
Responding to the award, Sehgal said it was indeed heartening that not only the tourism sector but even people spneding time on holidays and excursions were considering UP on their priority list. “Tourism is a sunshine sector for the UP government and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has an eye on it and it is under his watch and guidance that we are rolling out some major initiatives” he added.
